The start date may vary from year to year; however, the courses usually start within the 30th of October.

The calls for application are usually published three months before the academic year starts, hence for courses starting in October they become available in July.

Upon request, we organize personalized Open Days according to the needs of our potential students. During these meetings (physical or virtual) we provide guidance on the most suitable course of study, based on the candidate’s interests and aspirations. No, they are not! Currently we have coordinates sites in Prato, Lucca, Piancastagnaio (Siena), Grosseto and Capannori (Lucca). On our courses page you can find the available programmes and their respective locations.

Each course includes 800 hours of apprenticeship in fashion, accessories and leather businesses.

In order to become an instructor, it is necessary to apply for the position following the procedure featured on the Teachers Register page.


The MITA Foundation is recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), which provided for its establishment with the Decree of the Presidency of the Council of 25/01/2008.
The final diploma is recognized at a European level, as ITS are aimed at achieving higher technician diplomas. Their objective is to respond to training needs in Italy, with particular focus on the main technological areas of the country. ITS are foundations formed by schools, universities and businesses to create an authentic integration between education, training and work.

Yes, it is! MITA Academy is a higher technical institute co-funded by Tuscany Region. Our courses provide an alternative to university studies, in that they offer professional training for the fashion industry, which is one of the most important manufacturing sectors of our territory.

After attending ITS MITA, students obtain “Higher Technician Diploma in Made in Italy Fashion” (V Level of the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning E.Q.F.).

In some courses a computer skills certification is included.


Young people aged between 18 and 29, with high-school diploma plus good computer and English language knowledge. The admission details are included in the individual page of each course.

Yes, every course has a limited number of participants. This ensures a high-quality learning experience for our students.

Each course admits a maximum of 25 participants, who will have to pass a selection process after applying for a MITA course.

The selection will be made through written and oral tests. The interview will value not only the candidate’s education, but also his/her motivation to pursue a course of study in the fashion industry.

In more detail, the assessment of candidates will be carried out as follows:
– general knowledge test, aimed at verifying technical/technological/computer skills;
– English language knowledge exam (test and interview);
– interview intended to evaluate the candidate’s personal motivation to attend the course.

The biennial programmes of ITS Foundations are regulated by Ministry and Region legislations that dictate specific admission requirements and allow access to courses exclusively to the 18-29 age range.

All courses have compulsory attendance, however working students are admitted as long as they manage to balance class attendance with their job.

They can, as long as they are aged below 29 years and are able to guarantee regular attendance.

They are accessible by paying only a registration fee, as courses are funded by MIUR and the Regional Government of Tuscany.

The registration fee is included in the call for applications. In any case, it is usually set around € 1.000.

It is a deductible charge (in the measure of 19%) as it is comparable to university fees (note MIUR DGOSV prot. 13.06.2016, n. 6578).

  • Higher technician operating in the leather sector, artisan workshops and style offices, product offices, modelling or prototyping departments and external technical consulting firms;
  • Marketing and Communication Manager in fashion businesses, but also in consultancy firms and fashion marketing agencies;
  • Higher technician in the textile manufacturing sector;
  • Higher technician in contexts where metal accessories and complements are designed and manufactured for fashion products (leather goods, footwear), including small, medium and large companies, craft workshops, design studios, companies operating in the luxury fashion industry and artistic goldsmiths.

    The school is located in the prestigious Villa l’Acciaiolo, also called Castello dell’Acciaiolo or, more simply, l’Acciaiolo, it is a historic noble residence that is now publicly owned.
